The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) issued a fraud alert warning truck drivers about a scam impersonating the Motus registration system.
According to the agency, 'bad actors' have started impersonating the official Motus website through fake emails, attempting to trick users into handing over personal or registration information.
FMCSA noted that Motus is not an acronym and shouldn't be written in all caps — a detail that can help identify fraudulent messages misusing the name.
What drivers should do: before entering any information in a Motus-related email, verify the sender and website domain are official. If unsure, contact FMCSA or your carrier directly before clicking any links.
